St Joachim’s Catholic Primary School

Walsingham Wing commemorative plaque

Here at Stone Sign Company, we were pleased to be asked to create a commemorative opening plaque for the new Walsingham Wing of St Joachim’s Catholic Primary School.

The new Walsingham Wing took two years of building work to complete and has effectively doubled the size of the school. It includes new classrooms, a library, a sensory room, and an extension to the main hall.

The new Wing was officially opened by the Bishop of Brentwood, The RT Rev Alan Williams, who blessed the building in a ceremony attended by students and teachers on the 26th September 2019.

To help celebrate the opening of this extension, Stone Sign created a bespoke commemorative plaque. We used quality Welsh slate with a fine rubbed finish, as this is the perfect option for design flexibility.

The opening plaque was intricately fine engraved with both the school’s logo and the Diocese’s logo; both of which were then expertly hand painted by our skilled stone masons.

The text was deeply engraved with a crisp white enamel inscription, providing a clear contrast to the dark slate plaque so that the sign is easily legible, even from a distance. We supplied this slate wall plaque with faceless fittings in the rear, to provide a neat finish and to not interrupt the design with fixings.

The whole Stone Sign team were pleased to have taken part in creating this opening plaque to mark the occasion and wish St Joachim’s Catholic Primary School well with their new Walsingham Wing.
